UPDATE: SORRY FOR THE TROUBLE FOLKS, THIS IS NOT THE EXPECTED CYCLE-HUB, BUT TEMPORARY PARKING UNTIL THE HUB IS DELIVERED IN MARCH 2014
Not so much a bang as a whimper of publicity to introduce this facility:
Only one way in and out – officially, anyway
Two CCTV cameras and visibility through the bars should hopefully deter the casual thief
Some guidance on how to use it:
Stupidity is just around the corner
Exempting cyclists from this one-way system, so that they could cycle to the London Cycle Network routes just around the corner, is a no-brainer – which is possibly why it hasn’t been designed and put in place from day one.
£200,000 gone on 40 spaces (minus the spaces they’ve removed on the other side of station), two cctv cameras and a gate? And is the majority of this new hub not comprised by a car park? I’ll check out tomorrow but if I’m right, it looks like the cycle money has been spent on a car park with some cycle parking. FOI request coming up…
